Together, Shorr and 3M presented solutions to address two major challenges the manufacturer was facing:
- A reliable packaging tape machine to increase productivity and secure tape application consistently.
- Versatile taping machine to minimize downtime and frequent equipment changes.
Shorr collaborated with 3M to replace product lines with the 3M-Matic™ 8000a Case Sealer.
Shorr’s equipment specialists conducted two demos. First, using the manufacturer’s original case sealer with narrow tape heads, and a second demo featuring the upgraded 3M-Matic 8000a Case Sealer. After testing, it became clear that the 3M-Matic 8000a Case Sealer was the best-performing and most cost-effective solution. Its side drives have traction-grip for centered, consistent sealing, repositions to stabilize narrow boxes, and can seal cases weighing up to 85 lbs at speeds up to 40 cases per minute. This change eliminated the cost of additional tape heads and workflow disruptions due to replacing machine parts.

With 3M’s System Tape Head Agreement, the manufacturer not only gained an updated system that meets supply demand but also secured future discounts on tape supplies, maintenance, and repairs, thus reducing operational costs.
